Access Services

Merrigong Theatre Company is committed to achieving equal access to great theatre for all of our patrons.

Seating
A number of seats and wheelchair positions in each IPAC theatre are held for patrons in wheelchairs or with other mobility concerns. Patrons must advise the box office at the time of booking if they wish to
access these.

Companion card
Companion card holders are entitled to tickets at our Concession rate, and carers’ entrance is free. These can only be booked by visiting or phoning the box office on 4224 5999. Please ensure you present your companion card when you collect your tickets.

Hearing assistance
Both IPAC theatres are equipped with sound enhancement facilities. The IMB Theatre has an FM system for hearing augmentation. The Gordon Theatre has an induction hearing loop compatible with T-switch hearing aids. Receivers can be obtained free of charge from the box office prior to performances.

Captioned performances
Merrigong Theatre Company captions the Saturday matinee for select season shows. Captions are displayed on plasma screens at the side of the stage. Please check the seat map when booking online or mention your interest in captioning when booking at the box office to ensure you are in the best position to make use of this service.

Audio Described Performances
We will provide live audio description for select Merrigong Season shows in 2013. In an audio-described performance, actions, expressions and gestures are described by professional describers trained to bring out the true imagery in a performance. Blind and/or vision impaired patrons will hear the description through headsets. Before commencement of the performance, patrons will have the opportunity to come on stage and participate in a 30-minute tactile tour of the set and costumes. Being amongst the scenery establishes the scene for the participant and allows for a deeper theatrical experience.

Patrons wanting to take advantage of the audio description service must specify this to box office staff when booking tickets to the performance. To book, please phone the box office on (02) 4224 5999 and advise box office staff how many headsets you require, and if you will be attending the tactile tour. 

Large-print cast sheet
Large-print, plain text copies of the cast sheet for any Season show are available on request (at least 5 working days prior to a performance), to be collected on the evening from the box office. Please inform us if you prefer 16 point, 22 point or a larger format
